Ally Van Iten— Dressing for Authenticity and Confidence

Ally Van Iten— Dressing for Authenticity and Confidence

How do you feel when you get dressed in the morning? What thoughts run through your mind as you put on your clothes and look in the mirror? Whether we like it or not, what we wear communicates a message about who we are. 93% of communication is nonverbal and people will make judgements about who you are within the first seven seconds of meeting you.

Tell a better story through your appearance while maintaining YOUR authenticity—which is hard to do in a photo shopped, filtered world! Ally Van Iten brought the UK-based company, House of Colour, to Des Moines to help men and women feel visible and confident in their appearance. Getting dressed, shopping, and presenting yourself at work and play can be simple (and enjoyable!) when you learn the process House of Colour teaches their clients. Ally will share with us how Hollywood has used color analysis to tell a story about their characters, tips on dressing for the workplace, and tools to celebrate your unique coloring and body architecture.

Originally from Naperville, IL, Ally studied Psychology in Charleston, SC and attended graduate school at Wheaton College. She spent 10 years moving across the Midwest with her husband for his career as a bridge builder. They have four children: Emmy, Mack, Archie, and Charlie. In 2018, Ally brought the franchise, House of Colour, to Des Moines and opened her studio in Johnston. She uses color and style analysis to help men and women feel visible and confident in their corporate and casual attire. When she’s not working, she loves to read, write, and bike with her family.
